The role
The Ecosystem Lead North plays a key role in supporting Regional Director for Region North Europe in driving the development, impact and financial sustainability of the ecosystem, as well as the Innovation and Education activities within the regional ecosystem. This includes activities to support 28DIGITAL partners and stakeholder engagement events, as well as monitoring and ensuring operational excellence of the Innovation and Education activities.
The Ecosystem Lead North is responsible for the recruitment, retention, and engagement of 28DIGITAL partners in the Ecosystem, Innovation and Education activities as well as the development of strong consortia for European (e.g., Horizon Europe, Digital Europe Programme), national (e.g., Business Finland) or regional calls for proposals in order to achieve 28DIGITAL’s impact and financial goals. The Ecosystem Lead North is also responsible for managing, executing and reporting on the projects being performed by the Region.
The Ecosystem Lead reports to the Regional Director for Region North Europe.
Key responsibilities for the growth and development of the 28DIGITAL North Region ecosystem include:
- Engaging both new and existing 28DIGITAL partners to collaborate with 28DIGITAL on the preparation and submission of competitive proposals for EU and national innovation funding.
- Leading and supporting the implementation of projects carried out by the Region North Europe on behalf of EU and national innovation funding bodies.
- Overseeing the administrative and financial reporting processes relevant to the Region North Europe and the projects.
- Driving the development and growth of strategic partnerships across the region to strengthen the 28DIGITAL ecosystem and funding pipeline.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Attracting and retaining 28DIGITAL partners within the North Region.
- Expanding the ecosystem at governmental and regional level.
- Designing and delivering high-quality 28DIGITAL events that activate and engage the Region North Europe ecosystem.
- Driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across the region by collaborating with other 28DIGITAL regions and teams, and by sharing best practices.
Qualifications and experience
- Sc. degree (or equivalent) in engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical field from a technical university or institution with a strong engineering focus; solid digital/IT literacy and ability to operate in technology-driven environments required.
- 5+ years’ experience in operational management, business development, or project delivery roles within innovation or technology-driven organizations, preferably in a multi-stakeholder or European funding context.
- Proven track record in successful WP and Task deliveries in multi-stakeholder projects (e.g., Horizon Europe).
- Prior experience in preparing proposals for EU funding or similar calls.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and manage stakeholders across industry, academia, and public sector.
- Previous knowledge of the digital health, metacity, cybersecurity, dual tech, quantum, or AI sector is an asset.
Languages
Excellent or native command of Finnish; excellent command in English; Swedish is a plus.
Place of employment
This is a full-time position. Place of employment is 28DIGITAL Helsinki Office, located in Espoo, Keilaniemi. Ecosystem Lead North is required to travel to other 28DIGITAL offices and/or Partner locations in Region North Europe for approximately 10%-20% of their time.
