Bridging the digital gender divide starts with SME4DD
Europe needs to do more to increase the number of women working in tech, and that means increasing the number of women with digital skills.
A good place to start is SME4DD.
An EU-funded project under the Digital Europe Programme, SME4DD is designed to provide SME professionals – including women – with the essential skills and knowledge they need to navigate and leverage the digital innovations that are defining our future.
“SME4DD is an excellent opportunity for everyone who wants to gain the digital skills needed to futureproof their careers,” says Laure Bourgois, PhD, one of the project’s course instructors.
The SME4DD project has set the ambitious goal of having 30% of its course participants be women. To increase its chances of attracting women, the project and its partners have opened several free courses. It also designed its courses based on the needs of SMEs, which helps increase the number of women able to design, develop and deploy digital solutions in the economy and across sectors.
“Our goal is not only to improve access but also to ensure that women are better equipped to keep pace with rapid technological change, ensuring they have a solid foundation from which to gain new skills and prepare for the jobs of tomorrow,” adds Bourgois.

Here’s what one participant has to say about our popular AI for Business course:
“Each chapter of the course is crafted in a very purposeful way. Regardless of how much experience another course member had, there seemed to always be something to learn from each other.”
