28DIGITAL Named 2025 Startup Ecosystem Star in Three Categories
28DIGITAL has been recognized as a Startup Ecosystem Star (SES) 2025 by the International…
The TIM Smart Infrastructure Challenge, a cornerstone initiative in Italy's technological landscape, has concluded, naming its cohort of winning innovators. The competition, which attracted over 100 global startups and scaleups, spotlighted advanced solutions in artificial intelligence, IoT, robotics, and cybersecurity designed to address the pressing modernization needs of the nation's critical infrastructure.
Among the winners, the startup Entopy was awarded by 28DIGITAL, a partner in the TIM Smart Infrastructure Challenge, for its Decision Intelligence platform, which leverages Digital Twin architectures and AI to interpret complex operational data and enhance real-time decision-making in dynamic environments.
The announcement of the winners arrives at a pivotal moment, underscored by the recent publication of the comprehensive Smart Infrastructure Report. This study, developed by TIM's Research Center in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, the Politecnico di Milano's Digital Innovation Observatories, and Comtel Innovation, provides a data-driven blueprint for a national technological upgrade. It presents a future where Italy's essential systems—from energy grids and water networks to transportation and civil structures—are transformed into intelligent, interconnected, and resilient assets.
28DIGITAL selected Entopy based on a clear strategic thesis: Decision Intelligence platforms built on Digital Twin technology will be essential for managing next-generation infrastructure systems. As critical infrastructure becomes increasingly interconnected and data-intensive, the ability to consolidate fragmented information streams into coherent, actionable insights is no longer optional.
The company's focus is on identifying technologies with the scale and impact to shape strategic sectors across Europe. Entopy's platform met these criteria by demonstrating a capacity to process highly complex operational datasets and support real-time decision-making in environments where traditional analytics fall short.
Entopy's Decision Intelligence platform combines Digital Twin modeling with artificial intelligence to create virtual representations of physical infrastructure. These digital replicas ingest data from sensors, operational systems, and external sources, allowing operators to simulate scenarios, identify potential failures, and optimize maintenance schedules before problems manifest in the physical world.
The technology is particularly relevant given Italy's infrastructure challenges. The Smart Infrastructure Report estimates that intelligent monitoring systems could prevent up to 27% of failures in aging civil structures and reduce management costs by 31%, translating to potential savings exceeding €54 billion through 2030.
Entopy now enters a phase of potential collaboration with TIM Enterprise and its partners, moving from recognition to potential deployment in Italy's infrastructure modernization efforts.
